Iconomy Founder Featured in Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Those Who Dared

Ngee Ann Polytechnic has featured Mr Boo Kok Chuon, founder of Iconomy, among its community of alumni entrepreneurs in its commemorative publication, Those Who Dared: Entrepreneurs from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
Published in 2015, Those Who Dared celebrates graduates of Ngee Ann Polytechnic who went on to pursue entrepreneurship and build businesses across a diverse range of industries.
Mr Boo was listed in the publication’s “Community of NP Entrepreneurs” as an alumnus of the Diploma in Banking & Financial Services, Class of 2006, alongside The Commissioned, one of his earlier entrepreneurial ventures.
For Mr Boo, the recognition carries particular significance as Ngee Ann Polytechnic played an important role in shaping his early interest in business, banking and finance.
Following his graduation, he pursued entrepreneurship across a number of ventures before establishing what would eventually develop into the broader Iconomy Group. The foundations acquired through his Banking & Financial Services education would continue to influence his subsequent work in entrepreneurship, corporate finance and business advisory.
A Community of Entrepreneurs
Those Who Dared was produced by Ngee Ann Polytechnic to recognise the entrepreneurial journeys of its alumni and the diversity of businesses they had created.
The publication brought together stories and records of alumni who had taken the less conventional path of building enterprises of their own, while also documenting a wider community of NP entrepreneurs across different graduating cohorts and industries.
Mr Boo’s inclusion in that community represents an early institutional record of an entrepreneurial journey that was still developing.
Years later, the relationship with his alma mater would come full circle when he returned to Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Business to share his entrepreneurial experience with students and subsequently contributed as an Industry Mentor to students from the Diploma in Banking & Financial Services programme.

Iconomy extends its sincere appreciation to Ngee Ann Polytechnic for including Mr Boo in Those Who Dared and for recognising the many different paths taken by its entrepreneurial alumni.
Education does not end at graduation. The knowledge, relationships and formative experiences developed in school frequently continue to shape the decisions an individual makes many years afterwards.
For Iconomy, this feature is therefore more than a record of an early business venture. It is also a reminder of where part of that journey began.
