Lianhe Zaobao Profiles Boo Kok Chuon and Clarie Chan’s Entrepreneurial Journey

· iconomy

Lianhe Zaobao featured Boo Kok Chuon and Clarie Chan in its SME series on couples who built businesses together, exploring how their complementary professional backgrounds shaped their entrepreneurial journey.

Published on 9 March 2017 under the Chinese headline 《夫唱妇随谱写创业新乐章》, the feature traced the couple’s story from meeting through music at Ngee Ann Polytechnic to building complementary careers in finance and accounting. It described how Boo entered entrepreneurship during the 2008 global financial crisis, initially through a printing business that later expanded into areas including web design.

The article subsequently followed their move into corporate finance including the development of services supporting Singapore companies seeking access to the United States capital markets. It documented the practical work involved in preparing SMEs for such transactions, from reorganising financial records and corporate structures to fundraising and acquisition planning.

The feature also captured the division of responsibilities between the couple. Clarie described herself as handling the backend while Boo focused on external and front-facing matters. Boo, in turn, described himself as tending to think at the broader strategic level while Clarie focused on details and potential risks, characterising their respective strengths as complementary.
